Lake Champlain is a treasure of Underwater Historic Wrecks

The Lake Champlain Maritime Museum is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Lake Champlain

Art Cohn helped create The Lake Champlain Underwater Historic Preserve and has been diving the lake for more than 30 years. He says October is his favorite time. "There's nobody on the lake. The water is still warm. The visibility is usually at its best, and the foliage and grandeur of the surrounding environment is as good as it gets anywhere in the world."

For the Diver

We will meet on Friday, 10/11/2008 at the Brick Store on the corner of F5 (Ferry Road) and Greenbush Road. We will then proceed to Thompson’s Point for an afternoon shore dive. After the dive we head to Burlington, Vermont to the Waterfront Dive Center dive shop, where we will fill out the paperwork for our permits to dive in the preserve. We will then proceed to the Motel 6 hotel. We will do 3 boat dives on Saturday and another 2 dives off of the same boat on Sunday. Dive sites are yet to be determined. Possible wreck Sites are O.J.Walker, Horse Ferry, Phoenix, General Butler, A.R.Noyes, Water Witch, and the Diamond Island Canal Boat. We will spend Monday shore diving, possibly at Oak Ledge Park, or sightseeing before heading home.
